What to Know About Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a skin condition whereby the skin loses its natural pigmentation, causing white spots to appear. Some people develop only a few spots but in other cases it can be more extensive. The cause is not known, but it is not life-threatening or contagious. It is important to have a careful skin examination by a dermatologist in order to differentiate vitiligo from other skin conditions that cause loss of pigmentation and to discuss treatment options. Our providers have treated thousands of cases of vitiligo. We have expertise in diagnosing this condition (clinical examination of the skin with a blue light and, if necessary, a biopsy.) We can also prescribe creams, phototherapy and laser treatments.

About Flexile Classic

Excimer Laser— The XTRAC®

Excimer Laser is an FDA-cleared, advanced technology that delivers targeted UVB light to affected areas of the skin. This non invasive treatment is designed to help reduce the symptoms of vitiligo by stimulating pigment production in depigmented areas. The laser stimulates melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells, to help restore color to white patches of skin. We offer XTRAC treatments at several of our facilities.
